Final Essay 700 + WORDS

US practices (government, capitalism, birth, health care, economic inequality, food, energy)

after the first semester i started to like this class because we moved away from the acutal history such as capitalism an all that, which to me is history. when that was done we moved into social studies actual things that we can use an do in our social life.

BIRTH is somthing that everybody goes an went through, i injoyed hearing diffrent people experience of birth from female to male. i was told what my parents went through to have me an how was it for both my mom an dad. me being my moms 3rd child an my dads first it was cool hearing what they had to say. i never knew that i was born from a c section so yea it was cool.

HEALTH CARE what a crazy section that andy thought us i didnt realize how people health care was so bad in america but in the other country is it better. that goes to show you that america's government doesnt really care much about there own people. i also found this cool because this is somthing that everybody need an with out it we are walking on thin ice because whos to say somthing wont happen to you sooner or later an if you have no health care to pay for you to get better then you might die. o an before i forget, the homeless people that doesnt have health care are treated worst, it is not there fault they can not pay, if they are sick or hurt they should be taken care of.

FOOD UNIT was one of the most section that i can connect to because i am a big eater an learning about how the stores persaude you to buy the things that are right in front of your face as soon as you enter the door, it feels like they are forcing the food on the person that walks in the door, but it is weird how they talk about being healthy but yet they put chips an greasy food in front of the door an apples behind the chips. we also notice the foods are place for peoples eye level for example my eye level had hungry man an for katies it was kid quizen. so i gues i can say the super markets are based off of the people eye level an what will draw them in. another thing that we did during this food section was watch videos that showed us how food that we eat was being mistreated such as pigs,chickens,an cows. all of these animals are not free to do anything they want they are in cages an are not being feed the right stuff. also during this section andy had us watch a few movies name "MEATRIX" an "COWS WITH GUNS", meatrix showed us how animals were being mistreated an how they were speeding up the process of killing the animal for more profit, the fast the humans worked to move the dead animal the more profit the company made. cows with guns was one of the funniest videos i ever seen it showed the cows breaking free an buring down all the buger kings because that is what they were killing the cows to make. but at the end when the human finally stop the cows from destroying the city the chickens came in helicopters to help the cows fight back. i think that this whole section was very interesting because it showed us the damage that humans were doing to the animal population just for money. an i also think andy showed us this video to make us eat more healthy because the way we are eating it will not lead to a good place, things just will get worst an we might just end up eating animal crap if we keeping going the way we going.

ENERGY is our last section that i also found interesting. i have been watching the discovory channel for years, i have been following the videos of the oil falls to the futureistic view of how the earth will look in a few years to the view of how the earth will look with out humans. all of these thing connect to the energy section because everything revolves around oil. andy told us about the collapes of the world if we were to run out of oil, he said that the humans wont beable to survive an he is right. if u think about it everything we use,wear,do, is based off of oil if we keep going the way we going the oil level will drop very fast an i hate to say it but the humans will die unless we find another way to survive with out using oil. the video on the discovery channel of the world with out humans is the best example of how the earth will be when the human die off from the oil lose. an the other video of the futureistic view of earth is a good example showing us how we can live with out using fossil fuel, but using another meathod to survive.

our way of life is not going the right way but if we try to change now we might have a chance to survive. i think it is dumb that we are still using fossil fuel because sooner or later we gonna run out of it. why dont we use somthing that we have alot of such as sun light,air, or even water. but no they want to dig into the earth an try to get oil that will run out soon. were gonna be mad when we cant eat or are struggling to survive. how do your survive with out somthing that we use everyday.
but besides that i really did injoy this class well the 2nd semester i found it more interesting.

Collapse Assignment 2 - Short and Smart

i read the first article an this is what andy went over in class today. the oil has a vertex of the amount of barrels sold per day by the millions. the graph that was shown said that this genration hit our "peak oil" which is the vertex/high point around 2004-2006 selling over 80 millions barrels of oil a day. as everybody know that after the vertex the graph starts to go down ether rapidly or slowly. our genration is going down slow. after 2011 or 2012 is when the drop will happen an that is when the price of the oil will raise because we are running out of oil. they said that we wont run out of oil fully but we are running out of the amount that we need to keep our economy running.
"The human body is 70 percent water. The body of a 200 pound man thus holds 140 pounds of water. Because water is so crucial to everything the human body does, the man doesn't need to lose all 140 pounds of water weight before collapsing due to dehydration. A loss of as little as 10-15 pounds of water may be enough to kill him". this is the best example to connect to the oil. what this is saying is that we dont need to run out of all the oil to start dying off.

ok well that article to me personaly was so boring maybe its just me but the end was the most important part. to make it short the people on the island ran out of things to make the statue so they started using there own resources because they liked building the statues so much. so because they used there own resources the people ended up dying out (there civalization collapse) because they used all of there resources.

i think andy showed this to us because the people notice that they were running out of there resources but still kept using them. which is basicly what we are doing with our oil. our whole life is based on oil an we are running out of it an we noticed already but how can we stop using it if thats what we use to do everything. the only thing we can do is try to make another thing to take oils spot but it seems that nobody is really looking into it.

i was late for history class in the computer lab so i wasnt able to add on to the paper. on class on monday binta gave me the idea to talk about industrialised farm this is speeding up the process of the vegetables and animals. once again the meatix video showed me that the faster the more profit an that is what the people want the most. they care more about profit then the health of the animals or the plants.

FINAL PROJECT

well i watched the videos an the first one the drawn me in was the cows with a gun. i found it funny. i like the fact that the cows tried to turn back on the humans an burn down the burger king because that is what the cows were being made into "burgers". the song kept repeating cows have fun i guess that meant to show that the cows were not having fun in the farm an now that they can run free they had fun. i didnt like the fact that the humans at the end over powered the cows an was given the order to turn them into woppers. but i did like that the chickens came to help the cows since i guess the chickens also noticed that they were being turned into fast food to. i think this video was to show how the cows would live a good life if they were set free an were to run with the buffalo an not turned into burgers. the cow guru made me think about the meatix because he was the only one that wanted a diffrents in the cow life an in the meatix the pig,chicken, an the cow were the ones that wanted to changed how the animals were being treated an turned into food. sometimes it is funny to see the things that we eat fight back because all the years we have been eating it all of the food want to team up an fight back. me as the person i am i find it funny but also messed up that we have pushed the animals this far to fight back. it is the same thing as a human if you keep pushing a human sooner or later they will fight back an now for the animals there are humans wanting to fight back for the animals because they see what is going on to the animals. the video also showed that the farms are rushing the deaths of cows, it shows the cow sitting down eating getting fatter an then dieing then as soon as it dies they send it to the fast food company an that can also connect to what i seen in meatix when they speed up the process to make more profit. the humans are more focused on getting money then thinking bout the population of the animal. this also connects to the video we watched in class called "VROOM-Farming for Kids" an even the name makes it seem like they are speeding up the process.

FOOD #8 Industrial Food

well the videos that were given i watched the "meatix" series an i was interested i guess because it was animated but beyond that fact. the video showed us how the animals were being mistreated an not keep in a healthy condition which is bad for us when we get to eat it. the video to me was saying due to industrial companies an the work of machines the farms are becoming dirty an are making it bad for us. an also bad for the people who work there. they are more focused on profit an not the health of the human who handles the food. the video had a scene when the humans where bleeding in the food or getting injured because they cut them self from how fast the food was coming at them. an they also showed how the digestive system of the animal with all the blood an all the manure as they said was leaking all over the meat that the workers were cutting.
i notice during the video that as soon as one body or a group of people tried to show people the truth or tried to help the sitution, they sent somebody to take care of them an try not to get them involve. i guess because if them stop them there profit would drop and they did not want that to happen. they took "mofius" away because he tried to teach people what is really happing in the farm now that it is industrial. the cows were being mistreated(not feed right, no sleep,no time to walk around) an even the baby cows were taken away from there mothers an put in a room full of baby cows an they were feed blood which the video said can spread mad cow disease. ooooo an also i noticed that all of the machines that were used,used alot of fossil fuel.

EXTRA FOOD THING

i just had a better idea of what to bring in for the class im thinking i should just bring in fried chicken wings for the class where it is much cheaper an there will be enough for the whole class to eat an im not focused on the people who cant eat meat im just bringing it in just so people can taste it so dont get mad at me for bringing in chicken

well there are two things that i make myself i make the thing i call kc rice. it is rice with onions thats it but it is good not everybody likes onions but it is good to me. another thing that i make is good spagetti i will bring some of that in for the class

FOOD # 6

my mom watches the food channel an she is into all of that learning about what healthy an what is not for the human body. but i as a person dont really care because i know that everything we are eating is bad for us so there is no need to try to change up how we eat now. my mom watches oprea an they are always talking about health an food an all that but i dont pay attention to that my main thought about why people are fat is because they eat food then go right to sleep or ether they eat more than there body is sapost to handle an they do not try to get fit. even if you think about it to much of one thing will get you sick to for example to much letice(something that is sapost to be good for the body) is not good for the body because the letice is missing iron which the meat provides for the body. but then if you eat to much meat then you might get sick. an if you havent notice every single thing that they been saying is so called healthy for the body ends up being bad for the body. so after a while all our food that we eat now will just be unhealthy. so me as a person i have no idea what we will do. i guess the only thing we can do is eat what we been eating already but as a smaller portion an also stay away from fast food(mcdonalds,chines, etc), an also with our small protions of food we must also work out or just try to get active some how.

Grocery Store and Habitual Food

well my family eats rice with other things everyday an as rice being a sort grain. we go food shopping every month only because when we do go food shopping we pick up enough food that will last a month. we always pick up fruits such as strawberries,grapes,apples,orange, an some times lemon. one of the main vegetables that we pick up is corn an beans if beans count as a vegetable. the only thing close to a nut that we eat is peanut.

on our little trip to the grocery store i saw that there was 83 different kinds of salsa an the food that was on my eye level was "hungry man" an other people like chelsea or katies eye level was at kid kizzen. the store we went to put chips right in front of the front door im guessing to get the shopper to buy the chips that was filled with salt but then they have fruits right behind that which throws it off.

my fav meal is chicken an rice or mac an cheese mix with hot dog. dont say eww if you never tried it before it is good. i make that when i dont feel like making a big meal. the chicken an rice is if i wanna cook. i dont eat breakfast much i only eat it on the weekend but when i do my fav breakfast meal is potatos,eggs an cheese, an ether bacon or sauage. for lunch which i dont eat much ether it would have to be a chicken cutlet sandwich or a philly cheese stack.

if you think about it i eat alot of cow,pig,chicken an wheats an starches. but i try not to eat to much of everything because to much of one thing is never good for you an because of the swine flu im trying to stay away from pig.

last night i made somthing i call "kc rice" because i make, basicly its chines rice but home made. its rice with onions i had that with some chicken my mom made 2 days ago. i ate that around 6 an i didnt eat anything else for the rest of the night. i only eat ether 1 or 2 meals a day. the store that is around me does make much fast food an they dont sell fruit but they sell mostly everything else like bread,cheese,milk,oatmeal etc. they dont really put things in front of your fast an tell you to buy it like the ships in the store that the class went to.

EXTRA CREDIT.

i like the food but i didnt like that there was so many people. it was to crowed when i went into the gym there was like no room to walk around an the people behind me was pushing me but im not here to talk about the people im here to talk about what i expernece there. while in the gym i saw a table that was giving away chocolate an they got me hooked. one of the work shops that i stayed for was the lunch food thing an me being one of the students that dont get money to go out to lunch every day i have to go to the lunch room. but what they told us was actualy true, i was shocked that the food that they give to the school is the only thing that they give us. the people at the work shop wanted there to be a more plant based food in the school lunch which i dont mind but then not everybody likes that. an i doubt that s.o.f will even take that into consideration(the plant based food). i think that s.o.f is only trying to save money by giving us the same thing everyday but still after a while it gets gross.

every type of lunch room food is bad for the body i think. its all fake the plan for the more healthy food is not a bad idea but also to much of one thing is also bad for the body. as a person that eats s.o.f lunch food they need to change somthing because it gets worst every year.

an as much that i wanted to go to the work shop of super size me an the chicken in N.Y thing. i couldnt find them this school is huge so i left but i also got lost trying to get out. i was focused on finding those 3 work shops on because i didnt know if i would be interested in the other ones an i didnt want to be rude an just leave there workshop while they was talkin. but i only found 1 that i wanted to learn about, but at least i went an tried, it was a cool experience.

MAY DAY THINGY

i had no idea what may day was until we came into class. i dont know much about it but i know its based on socialism an that america doesnt celebrate it because if this country was social it would fall apart only because we are use to people telling us this is the law, u cant do this cant do that. if we ran our own country it would be a mess.that is why i think we are not thought about may day in america because if to many people protest about being social then the government wouldnt have a choice to ether change or make the law a little bit more social.

NOTES LOOK BACK

3/31 we play a normal game of musical chair well thats what we thought. the game showed the idea of competition for jobs or opportunities in the world today. everybody played musical chair one time in there life but Andy explaned it in a diffrent way that day.When you play musical chairs there is always less chairs than people, this showed poverty because there are only so many spots that will get you a good job in America and there are not enough opportunities for everyone which is why we have so many poor people that we have. the game showed that the reason why there are so many poor people is because there are not many chances/opportunities in the world.

4/2 the game we played this day was so much bull shit that it ruined my day because it showed that the rich had so many seats that they couldnt even fit on most of them an while the poor had to share 1 seat it just made me mad. the rich had 5 seat to its self were it can sit confortably while the poor had 1 seat. there was 6 poor people to 1 seat that got me pissed. but Andy was just trying to show how it is in the world right now. the 1 person had a 17.5% share while the poor had 2.2%.

4/3 we play musical chairs once again but this time it showed how the rich own most of the wealth. basicly out of 20 students that was in class that day only 5 was rich, the rich had the right to put there names on the chairs that they owned. once again this showed that all of the rich people are taken up the spots of opportunities for the lower class people.

GAME 4

the last game we played was musical chairs but it showed how rich people have more seat(chances)in life to become rich an stay rich. the chart that Andy showed us shows that even though the rich people pay more in taxes they do not pay enough to hurt there pockets it is like chump change to them but as for the people who are not rich the taxes hurt them more. in the game Andy put names on the chairs that the "rich" people owned an through out time all of the seats were taken by rich people an that only left 1 or 2 chairs for the poor people. in my mind i think Andy showed us this game to show that the poor people only have 1 slot an the rich have many. i was the only poor person to survive so i felt kinda good to at least be part of the chart even though it was a good thing because out of 5 rich i was the only poor an everybody else in the class must have been the home less. out of 20 students there was only 6 that got a seat. i found it messed up that the rich are so meessed up an couldnt give up a few seats to the homeless but that is how the world is. the people who make over $100,000 a year should be the only people who pay taxes because they are the only ones that can still afford a living after paying it. most people in america cant that is why most are homeless or poor. because they cant afford all the things they need. most people dont make over 20,000 a year an i think Andy said that the proverty lineis 18,000 some people dont even make that an there paying taxes when they cant afford a living for there families an them selfs.

THE DANISH WAY

well the day that the danish people came i did not know we had to be with them all day. i kept walking in an out of the class room because the room was packed with students that were fighting over the danish people (binta) an there were also guys crowding the girls so i didnt care much so i kept leaving an comeing back in just to see if they were still in there. from what i heard the danish life is easyer than american life. i guess because the ones that came were rich from what i heard.

BIRTH ESSAY (ITS ONLY THE FIRST DRAFT)

a big question that we have been going over in class has been How has Birth been alienated as the years pass?

for the pass few year the AWOB has been tampered with by tech's and drugs that is given to the mother. the more drug that is given to the prego is the more they getaway from a natural birth the body has to go through somthing to show your that it is working right. in class ms. plaza said the female body while it is giving birth goes through many things that you would not expect it would do. our bodys are such a advanced machine that we are able to abdapt to our surroudnings an what our body is going through. most mothers want a all natural birth so that they know that there bodys are still working right. the c section is sort of a way to rush the mother to having the baby faster so that the doc can get paid more ether my having to go to another mother or sometimes they just go an relax or go play golf somewhere .with technology it is starting to rush the mother in the birthing process. at the hospitals the docs have everything they need if somthing goes wrong while the baby is coming out. but at home it is so much less stress full. the technology is just there to make sure everything is going good. back in the day when they didnt have that they just had to deal with whatever happened happened. after what Andy has told us about what drugs do to the baby an the mother after words there is really no use for all the drugs that they give to the mother. for a fact through out the years birth has changes with the updates of technology

BIRTH VIDEO

i thought the video we watched in class about the births in the hospitals an a birth at home was the cools thing because it showed us that having a birth at home is so much less stressfull on the mother an with a mid wife she helps the mother all the way an even while the mother is givin birth she still looks less stress out compared to a hospital birth. the hospital birth has people yelling at the mother push an also the mother is in a unconfortable postion to have the baby an there are bright light an everybody watching the mother have the baby. that would make me feel weird if i was taken a crap an everybody was watchin me, it is sorta the same feeling for the mother.
as a guy i would want my wife to feel confortable were she is having our baby an the best place for that would be at your own house.
in conclusion the video showed me that even though the house birth seems better the hospital birth would be better just in case something goes wrong with the baby an there are drug for the mother if she is in crazy pain.

c- section

the c- section that i saw on you tube wasnt what i thought it would be. i thought it would make me feel sick but it did make me have a feeling in my stomach of me getting stabed. just seeing the baby getting taken out while the mother is sleep make it much easyer for birth. no screamin. because by the time the mother wakes up, the baby would be out she would feel a little bit of pain from the surgry. but there are down falls to c sections. mother can die, lost of lots of blood, put more stress on the human body, and having to stay in the hospital while the cut heals. which takes a while. my mom was there for 2 weeks with her first son. after ward the mother will feel good knowing that the baby is healthy an out of her so she will be happy(if she wanted to have the baby)

vaginal delivary

most of the mothers that are preg would choose a c- section but some actualy do choose a normal birth. there are many down falls to vaginal delivary aslo. lost of blood which might lead to death during birth, alot of pain, lots of drugs so the baby will come out high. while the birth is happing the mother is high from all the drugs, there people yelling at her, people screaming at her push and she is awake for all of this and she is in an uncomfortable postion and it takes a long time. the mother is stressed out and tired so she just wanted the baby out of her. which is why most mothers choose c- section as better way to give birth. the video i watched of the normal birth was weird to me there was lost of fluids involved and just to see the baby come out of the vagina made me a litle grossed out. the vagina streched out so much for a baby."an girls worry about losing there verginaty that is way worst"

CHILD BIRTH STORY

how does the person who gave birth feel about the birth?

my mother was happy both her and my father. she couldnt believe it. she was happy an also said she was blessed that all three of her kids were born healthy. we all had big eyes. my middle brother brian was the biggest one. we all are 9 years apart from each other. she waited 9 years so that she can bond with each one of us before she could have another kid.

was it what they expected?

she expected alot from all 3 of us she knows our strengths an weaknesses because she waited 9 years for all of us. she knew it would be pain involed. but she didnt think she would have to get a c section.

what would have made the birth easyer an better?

with my oldest brother leon she had asthma an it was her first time having a baby. she was in the hospital for 2 weeks over asthma. 24 hours for leon, no meds. the doctor had to take an x-ray because she fell on butt in december while she was pregnate with him an the fall messed up her tail bone. when the x-rays came back it showed that the tail bone was pushing up on the embryotic sack which mad it hard for her to push it out the normal way. so she had a c section. since her tail bone was messed up she had to have a c section for all 3 of us. with me an brian she was in the hospital for 1 week. she took anastasha so she could get knocked out for the surgery for the c section. she says lots of pain after it.

well ANDY told use that the ways that most of the things we do on christmas and new years is the typical american way of life. on christmas we open gifts an be with a bunch of family an have a good time by ether getting drunk or going out to other family members house. for new years american ether go to watch the ball drop in the city or ether to stay waya from alot of people they watch the ball drop on tv. then as soon as the ball drop every body go get drunk or pop open a bottle of egg nog.

my christmas was american we did everything that americans do open gift give hugs to our family members an say thanks for buying this for me. then ether go to another family member house to eat dinner.

my new years was sorta not american because every body in my house was sleep while the ball dropped so i went to my friends house an ate pizza. we didnt drink we just hung out like it was a normal day

NEW YEARS/ CHRISTMAS CONNECTION TO THE AWOL

ok the way i can connect my christmas an new years to the awol is by saying, my christmas is celebrated like how all the americans do by opening gifts an being with family which is what i did. american way of life for new years is to be around a bunch of people an get drunk an watch the ball drop in time square on tv or to be in time square. an i watched the ball drop on tv for the last 4 sec because i left my friends house at 11:58 an i came home to be with my parents but then was sleep so i watch the ball drop then i left again to go back to his house an chill with the rest of my friends an order dominos.

Andy has me thinking real diffrent about america now.
1: if you analyze the fact that a crowd of people bum rushed a few staff members in walmart just to save money and spend less on a few items.
that makes america seem like cave men because they act like savages just to save money. that also tells you that american people will kill just for money. all it is a a piece of paper with dead presidents on it. but thats is how everbody is raised, to make money an basicly money so called bring you power. so with money you have power.
this paper is based on how money can over power people and run a whole country. every time your read the newspaper or watch the news it always says money this money that we lost money we gained money. america is getting greedy. everybody has there own excuses to why the do what they do for money but the main thing is greed an how the people want power like i said before if your have money you have the power.
like biggie said "mo money mo problems" which basicly means with the more money your get the more responsiblity you will have to deal with.

MERRY CHRISTMAS/SAY GOOD BYE TO ANOTHER YEAR

once again christmas came, an this year for me i got what i wanted other than what i needed. anall i wanted was colon an thanks to my mom for getting it for me. it was unexpected because of some family issues but you just can't break my mom christmas sprit. i didnt get anybody anything because i didnt think that anybody would get anything for me. but my mom made my day. after everybody opened there gifts it was a regular day everybody went on about there business.


out with the old in with the new year. thank god 2009 is finaly here 2008 took extremley long. im hoping that this year bring good things to me. like money, good grades, etc. im lookin for good things this year. this year i turn 17 so im lookin for a change. we an i have a lot to look forward to this year.

1: we have a black prez who says he will make changes
2: its a new year so it time to change old habits
